TOM ADAMS & THE LAST RESORT - GOOD MUSIC TO FEEL BAD TO

THE TALE OF TOM ADAMS & THE LAST RESORT

COMBINING the imagery of Tom Waits, the aesthetic of Johnny Cash, the energy of Creedence Clearwater Revival, and the attitude of Frank Zappa, TOM ADAMS & THE LAST RESORT have been a growing and influential presence on the Cleveland Music Scene since the 2016 release of their first album, TUMBLIN' DOWN THE HOLE. Founder and bandleader, Tom Adams, has carved out a niche for himself as the premier lyricist and songwriter in Northeast Ohio. Their well-received second album, SUPER DUPER DOOMSDAY, and an accompanying video for the song, THE WIND BLOWS LOW, was released on October 2nd, 2021.

TOM ADAMS was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Detroit, Michigan. His family moved him to Cleveland, Ohio on his 17th birthday. Five years later, he began writing poetry, becoming a fixture of the Cleveland poetry scene throughout the 1990s, during which time he published a number of books, including AN UGLY AMERICAN, ALLEY VOODOO, and LAMENT FOR THE FALLEN SOLDIER.

In 1999, Adams co-founded TRENCHCOAT MANIFESTO, a multi-media/rhythmic music/spoken word/performance art project, with local artist and musician, DICK HEARN. They released one album, WHICH MOMENT, to widespread critical acclaim in 2005.

TRENCHCOAT MANIFESTO gave their final performance on September 16th, 2011, at the prestigious INGENUITY FEST, after which, Adams began to pick up the guitar, exploring the traditional American song format, adding his own dark humor and poetic license to the mix.

In 2015, he formed TOM ADAMS & THE LAST RESORT. They released their first album, TUMBLIN’ DOWN THE HOLE, on January 29th of the following year.

“THE LAST RESORT are kind of like my own personal Plastic Ono Band, in that it’s comprised basically of whomever happens to be on hand at any given moment”, says Adams, who uses the band moniker "to distinguish myself from every other Tom Adams on the internet, which are legion!”

Tom Adams and his producer/musical collaborator, DAVE MANN WOLF, spent the COVID pandemic of 2020/2021 working together remotely to record TOM ADAMS & THE LAST RESORT’s second album, SUPER DUPER DOOMSDAY, available here, there, and everwhere.
